We have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for Spring, all through this incredibly long, drawn out winter that saw snow falling in Thornbury on APRIL 26th!!!!! The nicer weather has to be coming soon, and with that the start of many wonderful outdoor events in the Blue Mountains area over the next few months.

Two of these Spring events happen to fall on the same day this year which means you’ll have some decision-making to do – but both offer an incredible opportunity to celebrate local food, local food makers and the awe-inspiring bounty Mother Nature provides. These events – Feast in the Forest and Eigensinn Farm’s Wild Leek & Maple Syrup Festival – take place May 25th and if you have figured out how to be in two places at once, do it.

Feast in the Forest is in its third year and promises to be better than ever. Held at the Kolapore Springs Fish Hatchery in the heart of the Kolapore Uplands, this event features local ingredients prepared by some of the best talent our area has to offer, including chefs from Bruce Wine Bar, Simplicity Bistro, Cabin Bistro, The Cheese Gallery, The Tremont Café and more. Stroll through the woods as you enjoy treats & libations as well as music from some of our many talented local musicians including Romney Getty and Strange Potatoes.

Only 150 tickets will be sold to this event so you’ll want to get yours soon – $110 plus tax is the price of admission, and this year’s ‘Feast’ is held in support of Elephant Thoughts and Beaver Valley Outreach, two local organizations that support their communities as well as global initiatives.

Visit www.feastintheforest.com to purchase tickets or call 705-606-1377.

The Wild Leek and Maple Syrup Festival is held at Eigensinn Farm, the home of acclaimed chef Michael Stadtländer. Each year he invites many of his chef colleagues to his farm in Singhampton to herald the arrival of spring and the start of foraging season. Guests wander through the woods and are treated to food prepared by chefs from Böehmer, Rose & Sons, Drake Hotel, Oyster Boy and of course Michael Stadtländer himself!

Tickets are $160, and it’s a ‘bring your own glass/plate/cutlery/booze’ affair from 1-4pm. For tickets call 519-922-3128.

Both events are sure to sell out quickly so be sure to get your tickets ASAP!
