Our team has been hard at work securing tenants for the Cranberry Mews Plaza in Collingwood, and are pleased to announce that it is now fully leased!! Here’s a bit of background on how we tackled this project.
This past Spring our team worked together with our client to survey area residents (full & part-time) about what types of businesses they would like to see in the remaining spaces available for lease in the shopping plaza. In all, a total of over 200 survey responses were received, representing approximately 10 percent of the retail centre’s surrounding neighborhood.
Topping the list of importance from survey respondents were stores catering to consumer electronics, computer, software and household appliance needs. Also on their wish list: a garden supply centre, more eateries and entertainment – specifically a microbrewery – a supermarket, a fabric store, dry cleaners and a wholesale outlet. The current tenants of Cranberry Mews were also asked the same questions and not surprisingly, their responses were similar. They noted the need for businesses that would help to generate more foot traffic (and consequently, spillover business) with such suggestions as a pharmacy, craft and specialty product stores, more medical services and topping their list, more dining and entertainment options.
At the time of the survey, there were only three spaces remaining in the Cranberry Mews Plaza. Less than three months later, those three spaces have been leased to Nails & Spa, Georgian Health Foods and The Water Store; the plaza is at capacity and a short waiting list is in place. Cranberry Mews now boasts a wide variety of businesses from eateries to medical services, exercise facilities, clothing & design retailers and esthetic services, making it well suited to serving the 2,000 people from Collingwood and the surrounding satellite communities as well as 5,000 weekenders who visit this popular four-season resort area throughout the year.
